The current industry standard is that training concerning helicopter shopping is only provided during initial indoctrination or orientation. The IAMTCS Board of Directors adamantly recommends that this training for medical communication specialists occur on an annual basis to reinforce safety-critical decision-making and prevent unsafe mission requests. Therefore, IAMTCS establishes this position statement to define the standard for annual helicopter shopping awareness training across all communication centers, ensuring consistent communication, informed decisions, and shared situational awareness in air medical operations
